Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andre Winner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peter Tran! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tran tries to clinch but Winner moves away and Winner counters with a stiff right hand. Tran closes the distance but Winner moves to the side and Winner counters with a nice uppercut. Winner fails with the takedown. Tran wants to clinch and Winner counters with a leg kick. Tran moves to clinch but Winner breaks away and Winner counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Tran thinking. Tran wants to clinch but Winner slips to the side and Winner counters with a one-two to the body. Tran tries to clinch and Winner counters with a flying knee. Nice. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Winner shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tran is trying to defend but Winner finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Winner thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tran's head. Winner tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tran knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Winner stalling away here and it's allowed Tran to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Winner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tran swivels though and keeps the full guard. Winner throwing strikes but missing. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Tran utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Winner trying to control the position from guard on top but Tran is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tran wants to stand but Winner is controlling the position. Tran pushes Winner off and gets back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Andre Winner dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Winner throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Tran tries to clinch but Winner moves away and Winner counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Winner. Tran working some nice short punches in the clinch. A nice left hand lands by Tran.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Tran as Winner tries to tie him up. Winner is trying to break free. Winner wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Tran swings away with an uppercut that misses.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Winner. Winner wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Tran has him pressed against the ropes. Winner trying to control the position but instead, Tran has worked for underhooks and has pushed Winner into the ropes. Winner blocking some punches.
Tran lands a shoulder strike. Winner is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes. Tran lands a right hand that snaps the head of Winner backwards. Tran doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Tran lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Tran doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Tran swings wildly with an uppercut but Winner uses good head movement to avoid it. Winner jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tran walks away with a smile on his face. Winner gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fight moves into the clinch position. Tran lands with a light punch inside. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Tran throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Winners head. Tran lands a left hand.
Tran working some nice short punches in the clinch. Winner is trying to drag Tran to the mat but Tran just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there. Winner has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Tran avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andre Winner. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tran lands with a light punch inside. Tran throws a head punch that misses. Tran tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Tran lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Winner backwards. A short right hand to the side of the head by Tran. A shot in the inside from Tran. Tran lands a hook to the side of the head.
Winner is rocked! Tran working aggressively here.
Oh Winner is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Winner blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Tran scores with an uppercut up the middle. Tran doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Winner seems to have got his legs back now. Winner can't break the clinch.
Tran lands with a left to the head. Tran lands a big right hand that drops Winner! The killer instinct kicks in and Tran finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Tran!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Peter Tran!
