Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Justin Wren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brian Roberts has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Wren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Roberts!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Columbo Gatti and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wren takes the fight into the clinch.
Wren is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Roberts tries to break free but Wren pushes him back against the cage.
A battle for position here, against the cage.

Wren jumps guard and drags Roberts to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Roberts stopping the sweep attempt from Wren.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wren escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Roberts gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Roberts trying to control the position from guard on top but Wren is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Roberts wants to control from the top but Wren keeps moving.
Roberts postures up in Wren's guard and throws a big left but Wren blocks it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Roberts is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Roberts should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Brian Roberts has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Wren is looking to chop away at Roberts's legs.

Wren darts in and clinches Roberts up against the cage.
Roberts wants to break free but Wren has control.

Wren pulls Roberts into guard.
Roberts must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Wren controls Roberts momentarily but Roberts frees himself.
Roberts looking to pass the guard.
Wren is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Roberts missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Roberts with a flurry of punches that miss.
Wren is looking to stand up but Roberts isn't so interested in that idea.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Roberts seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Roberts shoots in looking for a takedown but Wren manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Roberts's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
No luck for Roberts with that takedown attempt.
Wren tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Roberts is able to avoid easily.
Wren tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Roberts paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Roberts swats away the attempt to clinch by Wren.
Roberts falls off balance throwing a combination
and Wren counters with a stiff right hand.


It looks like Brian Roberts has been cut.
Wren lands a two punch combo.
Roberts looks gassed!

Wren instigates a clinch.
Wren drops down looking for an ankle pick but Roberts pulls his leg out and moves away.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Wren throws a leg kick but Roberts checks it.
Roberts checks a leg kick.
Wren tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Justin Wren dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Brian Roberts's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Wren tries to clinch there but Roberts circles away.
Roberts shoots in looking for a takedown but Wren manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Roberts's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Roberts shoots for a takedown but Wren saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Roberts pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Wren throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Wren will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Justin Wren is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wren tries to clinch there but Roberts circles away.
A bone on bone clash there as Roberts blocks the leg kick.
Wren tries to clinch up.
Wren tries to land a leg kick but Roberts saw it coming and moves away.
Wren pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wren fails in his attempt to clinch.
Roberts is looking to clinch.
Wren throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Roberts is breathing heavily.
Roberts fails with the takedown.
Justin Wren has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Roberts.
Wren is looking to clinch but Roberts is avoiding it.

Wren tries to clinch but Roberts moves out of range.

Wren has managed to clinch.
Roberts tries to pull guard but Wren won't allow it.
Roberts tries to stall but Wren uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Wren successfully pulls guard.
Wren is pulling down on Roberts's head to control his posture.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wren is on top in guard.
Wren is looking to work some ground and pound but Roberts has wrist control.
Wren stays in close to Roberts's body and controls the position.

Wren thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Wren slips nicely into half guard.
Roberts avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Wren.
Wren looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Wren wants to control but Roberts is keeping him busy.
Still in half guard, Wren seems content to control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Wren is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Roberts is just riding it out for now. Wren eventually gives up the hold.
Nice strikes from Wren there.

Roberts is staying active underneath Wren, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Roberts is in trouble now - Wren has advanced to mount!
Wren misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Wren trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Wren is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Wren unloading with bombs!


That has opened up Brian Roberts's cut even more.

Wren tries to control but Roberts wriggling away.
Roberts can't escape the position.
Roberts is bucking up trying to escape but Wren cracks him with another couple of good strikes.


Brian Roberts's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Brian Roberts's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Justin Wren!
