PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Jon Phenomenon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phenomenon has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Jon Phenomenon!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woods tries for a takedown but Phenomenon circles away easily
and Phenomenon counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Phenomenon leaves Woods with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Woods takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Woods. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Some bone on bone action there as Woods checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Woods feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Woods connects with a nice short shot to Phenomenon's temple.

Woods is nestled in close to Phenomenon, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Woods is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Phenomenon doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Woods.

Woods stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Phenomenon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Phenomenon wants to stand and escape but Woods is having none of it.

Woods keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Phenomenon's head.
