Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mop Maipen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sidney Wonder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wonder comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Unforgiven 3 kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maipen misses with a jab to the body
and Wonder counters with a nice uppercut. Wonder scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Maipen tries to improve position but can't. Maipen parries the strikes from Wonder easily there. Wonder is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Maipen to escape.
Wonder is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Wonder is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Maipen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Wonder working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Wonder has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Maipen is trying to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wonder is trying to get an arm triangle but Maipen is defending well. Wonder looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Wonder goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Maipen has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Wonder but great work by Maipen. Maipen wants to control but Wonder is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Maipen is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Wonder's shoulder. That is not cool. Maipen has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Maipen throws a body punch but Wonder moves out of range. Mop Maipen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maipen thows a body shot but no joy. Maipen gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wonder to score an easy takedown into full guard. Maipen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wonder advances to half guard. Wonder is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Maipen defends it well. Wonder trying to pass the guard but Maipen defending well. Maipen is looking for a sweep. Wonder is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maipen wants to control but Wonder is keeping busy and won't allow it. Maipen is staying active underneath Wonder, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Wonder frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Maipen is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Maipen tries to get back to half guard but can't. Wonder has hold of Maipen's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Maipen manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Wonder trying to control but Maipen is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sidney Wonder dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Maipen misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Wonder counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Maipen swings and misses with a shot to the body and Wonder counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Maipen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wonder.
Maipen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Wonder closes the distance and clinches up with Maipen, looking for a takedown. Wonder pushes Maipen against the cage but Maipen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Maipen rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Wonder counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Maipen swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Wonder. Maipen misses with an uppercut
and Wonder counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Maipen's guard now. Maipen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Wonder is looking to work some ground and pound but Maipen has wrist control. Wonder drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Maipen dives on top into guard. Maipen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wonder on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maipen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We're going to have a standup here because Mop Maipen wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Maipen lands a right hook to the body.
Maipen misses with a body punch
and Wonder counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Maipen missing with a left hand there. Wonder was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. A shot to the body from Maipen misses so Wonder counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Wonder drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wonder jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Maipen wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wonder slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Wonder is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Maipen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Wonder tries for a kimura but Maipen is defending well. Wonder thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Maipen on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Maipen tries to get out of the position. Wonder is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Maipen has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wonder is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Maipen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Wonder is trying to land an Americana. Sidney Wonder showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Maipen throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Maipen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Maipen misses the body punch and Wonder counters with a shoot takedown. Maipen fights it but they end up in guard. Wonder trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Wonder works a leg free and moves into half guard. Wonder is trying to work for a kimura but Maipen is defending well.
Maipen regains full guard. Nicely done. Wonder drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Maipen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Wonder has Maipen in his guard. Wonder is trying to keep Maipen in close.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maipen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wonder swivels though and keeps the full guard. Mop Maipen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Wonder is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Wonder wants to hit a switch here but Maipen passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Wonder there! Maipen misses with a head shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wonder holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Maipen tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Maipen content just to control the position here. Maipen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Maipen misses with a head shot.
And that's the end of the fight! Sidney Wonder comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Wonder has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
