Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Drysdale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blake Stevenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Drysdale! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Blake Stevenson! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Reed Andrews and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drysdale shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Stevenson is trying to defend but Drysdale finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Drysdale is working for a kimura but Stevenson is defending it quite comfortably.
Drysdale looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Stevenson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Drysdale is working for a submission of some sort.
Drysdale is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Stevenson wants to sweep but Drysdale has passed to side control! Stevenson tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Drysdale presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Drysdale wants to finish this one by submission but Stevenson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Drysdale. Stevenson tries to lock up and control but Drysdale gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Drysdale content just to control the position here. Stevenson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Drysdale is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Stevenson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Drysdale working for a guillotine from mount but Stevenson is in no mood to give up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stevenson wants to hold on but Drysdale pushes him away. Stevenson flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Drysdale swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Stevenson is now in Drysdale's guard. A big mistake from Drysdale there, giving up the dominant position! Drysdale is looking to sinch up a triangle. Stevenson throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Drysdale's body to avoid the submission. Drysdale has instead reached around Stevenson's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Drysdale arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Robert Drysdale!
