Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andy Pain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Domingo Chavez! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chavez swings away with a body shot that misses
and Pain counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Domingo Chavez has been cut. Oooooh!!! Pain has knocked Chavez down with a huge combo! Pain steps away and waves a wobbly Chavez back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Chavez is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Chavez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pain. Chavez is still on wobbly legs! Can Pain finish him? Pain clinches up against the cage. Chavez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Pain is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Chavez seems to have recovered his senses. Chavez wants the takedown. Pain is fighting it off but Chavez persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Pain's guard against the cage. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chavez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Pain has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chavez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Pain seems keen to control Chavez's posture. Chavez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pain manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Chavez has Pain in his guard. Chavez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pain defends it easily. Chavez looking for a sweep. Not yet Chavez, not yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pain throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Chavez works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Chavez manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Chavez goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Pain turns into him and now he's in Chavez's guard.
Chavez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pain can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Chavez is looking for a triangle but Pain pushes his legs off easily.
Chavez working for submissions but it's allowed Pain to get to half guard.
Chavez looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chavez avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pain. Pain tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Pain maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Chavez could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Pain has cracked it and Chavez is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Pain!
