The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carthew cracks Maloney with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

It looks like Cohen Maloney has been cut.
Carthew tries for a takedown but Maloney circles away easily
letting Maloney counter with a right hand.

Maloney fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Carthew sprawls well initially but Maloney persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Maloney is working for a submission of some sort.
Maloney slips a nice elbow through Carthew's hands, connecting with Carthew's forehead.

Maloney is looking for a kimura but Carthew is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Maloney to get the leverage.

Maloney decides to return to a standing position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Carthew takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Carthew swings away with a body shot that misses

and Maloney counters with a takedown into side control.

Maloney has an Americana. Carthew didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Maloney is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Maloney hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
