Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Gregory St Pierre! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Drape Shorts! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Glass and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shorts walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Shorts swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Shorts. St Pierre does a little dance to reset his feet. St Pierre gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Shorts counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps St Pierre thinking. St Pierre swings widly with a right hand
and Shorts counters with a left to the body. St Pierre shoots in for a double leg but Shorts sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. St Pierre takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Shorts swings and misses with a shot to the body and St Pierre counters with a straight right hand. Shorts lands with an overhand left. St Pierre shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shorts's guard. St Pierre throws a strike but Shorts rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
