Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Chwytny Vlad! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Christian Knowles! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knowles throws a left and a right that both miss
and Vlad counters with a lovely straight right hand! Knowles scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Knowles is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Knowles closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Knowles wants to get back to striking at distance but Vlad won't allow it.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Vlad as Knowles tries to tie him up. Knowles is trying to break the clinch but Vlad is controlling him. Knowles's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Knowles looking to land some kicks to the body here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Knowles lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Vlad bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Knowles uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Knowles fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Vlad is out of range. Knowles misses with a hook. Vlad ducked under it nicely. Vlad decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vlad missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Knowles tries to get to full guard but Vlad has control of the leg. Knowles is defending against the submission attempts here by Vlad.
Vlad thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Vlad tries to pass the half guard into mount. Knowles knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Knowles avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Vlad. Knowles is trying to stand up here but Vlad is controlling him well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Knowles is staying active underneath Vlad, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Knowles wants to get back to full guard. Vlad is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Knowles is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
