PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ivgeny Chumakov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anatoliy Himura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chumakov comes to the cage accompanied by Little Wing - SRV. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anatoliy Himura!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Dmitry Maklakov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chumakov is looking to clinch.
Chumakov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Himura manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Chumakov buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Chumakov gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Chumakov takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Chumakov shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Chumakov showed some decent athleticism there.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Chumakov is trying to control the action in half guard but Himura is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Himura wants to control but Chumakov is keeping busy.
Himura is looking for a sweep. Chumakov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Chumakov wants to free his trapped foot but Himura is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Chumakov lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Himura won't allow Chumakov to pass to mount.
Himura is positioning himself well to prevent Chumakov advancing to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Himura has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Chumakov is working away from the top position though.
Himura is controlling Chumakov's position as best he can from this difficult position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Himura wants to control but Chumakov is keeping busy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Himura can do anything to dispel that myth.
Chumakov looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Chumakov in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Himura tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Chumakov!
