Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carl Sagan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dawkins Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sagan comes to the cage accompanied by Conquest of Paradise. Carl Sagan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sanchez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sagan tries to avoid it but Sanchez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sagan to the ground. Sagan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Carl Sagan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dawkins Sanchez.

The referee is keeping an eye on Sagan - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Sanchez jumps guard but Sagan stands there with Sanchez around his waist. Sanchez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nice straight punches there by Sagan. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Sagan.
Sagan bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Sanchez's head backwards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Sagan throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Sanchez on the side of the head.

Dawkins Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Sanchez moves into the clinch.
Sanchez jumps guard but Sagan stands there with Sanchez around his waist. Sanchez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Sagan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sanchez on the ground.
Sagan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sanchez is proving hard to escape from.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sagan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
