5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Samuel Turbitt! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! MacClelland tries to clinch and MacClelland takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Turbitt stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Turbitt wants it to stay on the feet. Preston MacClelland seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. MacClelland doesn't succeed with the takedown letting Turbitt counter with a right hand. MacClelland darts in trying to clinch and MacClelland takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. MacClelland uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Turbitt.
MacClelland tries to clinch and Turbitt counters with a nice double leg into guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. MacClelland throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Turbitt must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Turbitt thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Turbitt drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Turbitt jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Turbitt trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Turbitt stopping the sweep attempt from MacClelland. MacClelland is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. MacClelland manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Turbitt manages to get himself to full guard.
