Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, BJ Wilson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy Johnson! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilson fails to land with a series of punches.
Johnson wants to clinch up but Wilson keeps it at a distance. Johnson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Wilson gets a clinch. Wilson can't break the clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Johnson. Johnson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Wilson throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Johnson blocks it with crossed arms. Wilson breaks from the clinch.
Wilson misses with a wild combination.
An inside leg kick lands from Wilson. Johnson scores with a takedown into Wilson's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wilson keeping full guard, as Johnson tries to pass. Wilson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Wilson wants to stand but Johnson is controlling the position. Johnson preventing the sweep. Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Wilson is retaining full guard.

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Wilson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Wilson has his foot on Johnson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Johnson works his way back into a safe position though. Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Wilson is retaining full guard. Wilson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Johnson manages to get himself to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson lands a decent elbow from side control. Johnson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Wilson has escaped the position, nice work there. Wilson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Johnson's best efforts. Wilson wants to get back to full guard. Johnson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Wilson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Wilson. Wilson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Wilson looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Johnson looking for submissions off his back. Johnson wants to get back to full guard but Wilson has mounted him! Johnson is trying to escape the mount.

Johnson tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Wilson counters with a leg kick. Johnson feints and as Wilson raises his hands in defense, Johnson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Wilson keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully. Wilson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wilson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Johnson works his way into full mount! Wilson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Wilson is working hard here to advance position. Wilson regains half guard. Johnson wants to work for an arm triangle but Wilson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Wilson makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Wilson.

A nice leg kick lands there from Wilson. Wilson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Johnson checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Johnson takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Wilson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Johnson. Wilson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. BJ Wilson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Wilson scoring well with a low kick there.
Wilson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Wilson throws a head kick that misses. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Wilson. Johnson tries to clinch but Wilson is having none of it. Wilson is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Johnson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Johnson throws out a leg kick but Wilson moves out of range and Johnson only half commits. Wilson misses with a few strikes there.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Johnson. A punch lands to the side of Johnson 's head but he takes it in his stride. A decent looking body kick lands there for Wilson. Wilson throws a one two combo.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wilson lands a jab to Johnson's midsection. Johnson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Wilson can pounce on him.

Johnson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Johnson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Wilson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. BJ Wilson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Johnson. Johnson is breathing heavily. Wilson lands a body punch in the clinch. Johnson is rocked! Wilson scores with a one two! Johnson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Johnson is still on wobbly legs! Can Wilson finish him? Wilson misses with a series of wild punches.
Wilson moves into range and clinches up with Johnson. Johnson seems to have recovered his senses.

Johnson throws a right and a left that Wilson avoids nicely. Johnson takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Wilson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Johnson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Wilson has him pressed against the cage. Johnson looking to slow down the pace here. Wilson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Johnson prevents it.

Wilson lands with a kick to the temple. Johnson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Johnson takes a kick to the side of the head. Johnson closes the distance but Wilson moves to the side and Wilson counters with a body kick. Johnson walks into a left hand. Johnson takes a body punch but keeps moving. Johnson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Wilson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Johnson is defending against the submission attempts here by Wilson.

Johnson is looking to control Wilson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Johnson avoid being mounted? Johnson manages to escape and get back to his feet! Johnson looks for a takedown but Wilson sprawls well. Wilson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Johnson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wilson's guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wilson throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Wilson clinches up against the cage. Wilson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Johnson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Johnson fails to pull guard.
Johnson has picked Wilson up - he's going for a ride! Johnson dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wilson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. That was a close round but BJ Wilson did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it. That's time! Wilson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Johnson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Johnson controlling from mount. Johnson with shots to the head and body - Wilson looks very uncomfortable down there. Johnson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Wilson's face.

Johnson is working to isolate an arm here. It's a choreographed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Johnson extends the arm and Wilson is forced to tap!
