Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marshall Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaius Caesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gaius Caesar has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marshall Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gaius Caesar!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Steve Montenegro and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Caesar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Caesar tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Caesar has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Mason is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Mason dodges the ground and pound from Caesar.
Caesar throwing strikes but Mason manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Mason is trying to get an arm triangle but Caesar is defending well.

Mason lands a few punches from side control.
Caesar gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Mason is working for a kimura but Caesar is defending it quite comfortably.

Mason is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Caesar moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Caesar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mason tries to hold on but Caesar pushes him away.

Caesar moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mason has worked his arm free - good work by Mason!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

You can see the frustration on Mason's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Caesar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mason keeps working.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mason is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gaius Caesar dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Marshall Mason seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Caesar shoots in and bounces Mason off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Gaius Caesar has got the better of the ground game so far.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A lull in the action here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mason is not content to let Caesar control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Caesar is staying tight to Mason's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Mason is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Caesar is controlling him well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Gaius Caesar wasn't active enough on the ground.

Caesar has closed the distance and engaged Mason in a clinch.

Mason manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Caesar thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Mason takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

The ground and pound from Caesar seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Caesar working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Caesar lands a nice forearm strike.

Gaius Caesar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Caesar clinches up with Mason and pushes him back against the cage.

Caesar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mason manages to get himself to full guard.

Caesar loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Mason escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Caesar gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Caesar is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Mason not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Caesar forces his way into half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Caesar lands strikes from half guard.
Caesar wants to pass to mount but Mason is defending the position.
Caesar has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Caesar looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Mason is trying to stand.

Caesar jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Mason is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Mason and Caesar has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Well Caesar has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
