Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeganathan Mondero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drake kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is ACDC black ice - spoilin for a fight. Danny Drake could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jeganathan Mondero's chin.

12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jeganathan Mondero! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Hugh Johnson and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drake throws a sloppy body shot
letting Mondero counter with a right hand. Drake blocks a head kick by Mondero.
Drake moves into the clinch successfully.
Mondero dodges an elbow strike from Drake.

Drake digs a right hand underneath Mondero's ribcage. Mondero let out a lung full of air as it connected. Drake cracks Mondero with a nice body shot. Mondero looks gassed! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Drake lands with a short punch from the clinch.

It looks like Jeganathan Mondero has been cut. Drake lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Still in the clinch, Drake scores with a nice short uppercut. Mondero is rocked! Drake turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Mondero tries to bench press Drake off him but Drake keeps the position. Drake is chipping away with strikes.
Mondero tries to escape but Drake is in control. Drake connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Mondero some visible discomfort.
Mondero is still in real trouble! Can Drake finish him? Drake tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Drake has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Mondero seems to have recovered his senses. Drake lands an elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Drake landing a few strikes. Drake stands up and we're back to a striking position. The fight moves into the clinch position. Drake's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Drake tries to clinch up but Mondero circles away and keeps his distance. Mondero walks into a straight right hand from Drake. Drake misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mondero.

and Mondero counters with a three punch combo that has Drake backing up. Drake nods at Mondero to acknowledge the strikes. Drake smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Drake tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mondero swats him away and circles back towards the center. Drake misses with a jab to the body
and Mondero counters with a single leg into guard. Drake didn't expect that. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Drake tries to land a sweep but no joy. Mondero wants to control from the top but Drake keeps moving. Mondero wants to pass the guard but Drake is keeping the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Drake keeping moving, preventing Mondero from controlling successfully. Drake trying to keep a closed guard but Mondero is proving a slippery customer.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Jeganathan Mondero was stalling too much, according to the referee. Drake shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Drake got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mondero has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Drake has managed to get both his arms back between Mondero's legs - danger averted. Drake looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Drake sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mondero's guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Drake connects with a nice short shot to Mondero's temple. Drake keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Drake scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Drake looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Mondero is trying to maintain the position but Drake is very close to passing his half guard. Mondero tries to kick Drake off but Drake keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Drake tries to stand and escape but Mondero is controlling the position. Mondero is trying to stand up here but Drake is controlling him well. Mondero moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Mondero working a defensive guard here.

Mondero uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Drake.
Drake rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mondero moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Drake ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mondero moves away. Drake throws a lazy body kick and Mondero counters with a slapping leg kick. Mondero on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Drake throws a hook to the side of Mondero's head but Mondero sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Mondero drives through and clinches with Drake against the cage.

Mondero is breathing heavily. Drake throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Drake fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Mondero checks it well. Drake looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Jeganathan Mondero is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A left and a right from Drake both land. Nice combination. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Mondero just misses with a elbow thrown towards Drake's brow. Drake scores with a nice hook to the head. Drake lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Mondero backwards. Drake lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Mondero or not. A nice glancing elbow lands by Drake. Drake is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mondero can do to turn this around? Mondero managing to block the knees to the body from Drake.

Danny Drake overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mondero makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! A slow jab from Drake misses its intended target. Mondero circles away from the clinch attempt.

Danny Drake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mondero fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Mondero tries to score a power double leg takedown but Drake sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mondero somewhat. Drake lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Drake. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Drake moves into the clinch successfully.

Drake fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mondero manages to avoid it. Mondero shoots and misses and Drake counters with a leg kick. Drake is looking to clinch but Mondero is avoiding it.
Drake throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Drake throws a leg kick and Mondero counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Jeganathan Mondero has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Mondero is looking to take a break and control but Drake is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Drake wants to get back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mondero not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Drake is concentrating on defense, preventing Mondero from advancing position. Mondero trying to control the action but Drake is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mondero is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Drake moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Mondero trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Drake has control of Mondero's left arm, preventing Mondero from doing any damage. Drake bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mondero's guard. Drake postures up in Mondero's guard and throws a big left but Mondero blocks it. Mondero looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Mondero trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
