Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dennis Wong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lou Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wong leaves Johnson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Johnson shoots in for a double leg but Wong sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Johnson shoots in but Wong avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Dennis Wong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lou Johnson.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Wong cracks Johnson with a right hand to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wong throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Johnson sees it coming and avoids it easily.

and Johnson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Johnson is trying to control the action in half guard but Wong is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Johnson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Wong wants to get back to full guard.

Johnson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wong sees it coming and defends easily.
Wong has his hands clasped together around Johnson's back. He's all about the action.

Johnson is working for a kimura but Wong is defending it quite comfortably.

Johnson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

A close round but Lou Johnson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Wong stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson needs to keep his hands up - Wong had a free shot at his head there.

Johnson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Wong.
Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown. Wong tries to sprawl out of it but Johnson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wong manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wong lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Wong looks to land a right hand but Johnson moved out of range.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wong sprawls well. Wong wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Wong throws a lazy right hand but Johnson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Wong is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Wong closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Johnson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Wong loads up on a big right hand but Johnson slips the punch.
Johnson misses with a takedown attempt - Wong sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Wong throws a hook to the side of Johnson's head but Johnson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Johnson needs to keep his hands up - Wong had a free shot at his head there.
Johnson walks into a jab.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wong scores with a nice head shot.
Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown but Wong manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Johnson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dennis Wong dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Johnson drops his hands momentarily and Wong takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Danga de danga de dang - Wong scores with a four punch combination!
Wong throws a looping overhand right but Johnson ducks down to avoid it.
Wong feints a jab promting Johnson to slip. Wong then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Johnson slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Johnson fails with a takedown attempt.
Johnson ducks under a wild hook from Wong.
Wong scores with a jab. Johnson acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wong as he jumps to the side.
Johnson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Johnson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wong sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Johnson somewhat.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wong throws a jab when Johnson was well out of range.
Johnson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Wong connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wong lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Johnson circles away quickly and effectively.

Wong is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Johnson.

Wong scores with a hook to the body. Johnson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Johnson tries to move into range but Wong moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Wong connects with a good right hand that stumbles Johnson. Johnson circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Wong works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dennis Wong showed his dominance in that final round.
