Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chazz Gecko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Hanes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gecko comes to the ring accompanied by Bon Jovi: Livin' On A Prayer. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gecko does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Hanes throws a hook to the side of Gecko's head but Gecko sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Hanes counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Gecko connects with a body shot that sends Hanes's belly button to the back.
Nice straight punches there by Hanes. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Hanes.

Hanes is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gecko drops Hanes with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Hanes looks back up at him and smiles so Gecko waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Hanes drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gecko looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gecko looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gecko!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gecko tries to bench press Hanes off him but Hanes keeps the position.

Hanes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gecko, who protects the arm well.

Hanes is just content to waste time from the top position. Gecko takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Hanes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gecko wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hanes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hanes drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gecko manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hanes has Gecko in his guard.
