Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryu Hoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heikki Kuula (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kuula has chosen Heikki Kuula - Sun Nimi On Kuula as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryu Hoshi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Heikki Kuula!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuula swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hoshi counters with a straight right hand.
Hoshi scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
A low kick from Hoshi is predictable there
and Kuula cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hoshi.
Hoshi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kuula dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Good leg kick by Hoshi there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Kuula throws a low kick but Hoshi moves out of range easily.
Kuula throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Hoshi.
Kuula lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hoshi circles away quickly and effectively.
Kuula works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Hoshi tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Kuula counters with a nice low kick that buckles Hoshi's knee momentarily.
Nice uppercut there from Kuula.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Hoshi tries to clinch but Kuula moves away
and Kuula counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and Kuula counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Hoshi doesn't manage to clinch there - Kuula circles away.

and Kuula counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hoshi's guard now.

Kuula postures up and lands a big shot to Hoshi's brow.

Hoshi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kuula is one step ahead there.
Hoshi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hoshi is wriggling around but Kuula manages to pass to half guard.
Hoshi tries to get to full guard but Kuula has control of the leg.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kuula wants to control from the top but Hoshi keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hoshi moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Kuula throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hoshi tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kuula is in Hoshi's guard.

Kuula drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kuula jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Hoshi wants to sweep here but Kuula controlling him for the moment.

Hoshi is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kuula is controlling him.

Hoshi tries to close the distance and clinch but Kuula swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Ryu Hoshi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Hoshi throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Kuulas head.
Kuula blocks an uppercut.
Hoshi gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Kuula.
A right hook to the body lands for Hoshi.
Hoshi lands with a right to the head.
Hoshi misses with a punch on the inside.
Kuula tries to break the clinch but Hoshi is controlling the position.
Kuula misses with some punches.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Hoshi creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Hoshi lands a nice looking kick to the body. Kuula takes a step back to recover.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kuula needs to keep his hands up - Hoshi had a free shot at his head there.

Hoshi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hoshi throws a quick inside leg kick.

Kuula has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Hoshi is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Hoshi clinches up with Kuula and pushes him back against the cage.
Hoshi is leaning against Kuula and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Hoshi lands with a left to the head.
Hoshi lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Hoshi lands with a short shot to the head.
Hoshi blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Hoshi is trying to stall.
Hoshi has a couple of punches blocked by Kuula.
Hoshi lands with a right to the head.
Kuula jumps guard but Hoshi stands there with Kuula around his waist. Kuula gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Hoshi goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Hoshi blocks a body shot from Kuula.
Kuula jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hoshi walks away with a smile on his face. Kuula gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Hoshi here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Hoshi avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Hoshi moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kuula circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kuula takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hoshi's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kuula under the eye.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kuula.
Ryu Hoshi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Heikki Kuula.

Kuula might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hoshi kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
