Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lance Fanger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Jansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fanger comes to the cage accompanied by Satin in a coffin by Modest Mouse. Mark Jansen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lance Fanger! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Jansen! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Jonathan Paton and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fanger throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Fanger shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Fanger working Jansen over with strikes here. Fanger takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Jansen tries to get back to half guard but can't. Jansen wants to try and get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fanger avoids the attempt from Jansen to control. Jansen tries to control the position but Fanger now has his back.
Fanger looking for the choke but no joy. Fanger is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Jansen is defending well though. Fanger let's go of the attempt for now. Jansen wants to escape the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fanger looking for the RNC. Fanger is trying to stick to Jansen's back but Jansen is turning into Fanger. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Fanger's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Jansen. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fanger wants to sweep here but Jansen controlling him for the moment. Fanger is looking for a triangle but Jansen pushes his legs off easily.
Fanger is breathing heavily. Fanger is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Jansen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? That's two minutes gone in the round. Fanger blocks Jansen's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Fanger in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Jansen reaches up and holds on to Fanger to control the position. The referee warns Jansen that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Jansen is squirming around, avoiding Fanger's attempts to control the action. Fanger is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jansen is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Fanger postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jansen looks a forlorn figure.
Fanger lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Jansen hang on?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jansen tries to get back to half guard but can't. Fanger with shots to the head and body - Jansen looks very uncomfortable down there. Jansen looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! You can see the frustration on Jansen's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Fanger punishes Jansen with strikes from the back mount. Fanger is hanging on to Jansen's back as he tries to escape.
Fanger scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Fanger has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Jansen. Fanger has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Oooh a big shot gets through from Fanger. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Fanger wants to control but Jansen is keeping busy. Fanger has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Jansen's body.
Fanger has the hooks in. Jansen is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Jansen staying busy and making it hard for Fanger to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fanger has Jansen flattened out and is raining down punches. Jansen holding both Fanger 's hands and preventing any damage. Fanger punishes Jansen with strikes from the back mount. Fanger is trying to stick to Jansen's back but Jansen is turning into Fanger. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Fanger's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Jansen. Fanger is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Jansen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fanger swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Jansen tries for a takedown but Fanger circles away easily and Fanger decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jansen's guard. Fanger preventing the sweep. Jansen looking for a guillotine here but Fanger defends easily.
Jansen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fanger manages to get himself to full guard.
Jansen trying to control but Fanger is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lance Fanger dominated that round. That's time! Fanger's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Jansen looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Jansen passes to full mount! Jansen wants to control the pace but Fanger is squirming around nicely. Fanger tries to lock up and control but Jansen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Jansen sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Fanger keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jansen working for a submission but Fanger is keeping him at bay. Fanger regains half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Fanger wants to control but Jansen is keeping busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fanger works his way to full guard. Good work. Jansen trying to move into half guard but instead Fanger has managed to sweep! Jansen throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Fanger showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Jansen has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Fanger doesn't defend quickly enough and Jansen has managed to lock this one up! Can Fanger escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Jansen on a fantastic submission victory.
