Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mayang Dondon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abdul Salsalani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Mayang Dondon has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mayang Dondon seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mayang Dondon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Abdul Salsalani! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dondon shoots for a takedown but Salsalani saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Dondon drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Dondon trying to control but Salsalani is working from the bottom. Dondon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Dondon won't allow Salsalani to sweep him here. Dondon passes into half guard. Salsalani avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Dondon.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dondon takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Salsalani has hold of Dondon's hands but Dondon slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Dondon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Dondon stalling. Dondon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Mayang Dondon just wasn't active enough. Salsalani circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dondon shoots and misses and Salsalani counters with a straight right hand. Dondon falls off balance throwing a combination
letting Salsalani counter with a right hand. Salsalani throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Dondon tries to clinch there but Salsalani circles away.
Salsalani goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Salsalani throws a body punch but Dondon moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dondon closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Salsalani quickly recovers to half guard. Dondon takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Dondon has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Dondon seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Salsalani looks gassed!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dondon takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We're going to have a standup here because Mayang Dondon wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Dondon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Salsalani's guard. Dondon content to stall in guard here. Dondon passes into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mayang Dondon dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Dondon throws a head kick but Salsalani moves out of range.
Dondon looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Salsalani is fending him off so far but Dondon persists. Nope, Salsalani circles away and we're back to standing. Dondon throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dondon takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Dondon wants to clinch and Salsalani cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Dondon gets a takedown into half guard. Dondon decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dondon throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Salsalani tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dondon is in Salsalani's guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Dondon postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Salsalani being controlled here, momentarily. Salsalani has control of Dondon's left arm, preventing Dondon from doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dondon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Mayang Dondon has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Salsalani avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Salsalani bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Dondon moves into the clinch successfully.
Salsalani is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Salsalani is fighting off a takedown attempt but Dondon is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Salsalani to the mat. Salsalani regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Dondon slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dondon passes into half guard. Dondon content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Dondon passes to full mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Dondon controlling his opponent. Dondon cracks Salsalani with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mayang Dondon dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Salsalani gets tackled into the cage by Dondon. Dondon maintains the clinch. Salsalani has had enough of the clinch but Dondon keeps him there for the moment. Dondon works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Dondon wants to pass the guard but Salsalani is keeping the position. Dondon decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Salsalani, up you get! Dondon throws a nice looking combination but Salsalani bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. A momentary lapse in concentration from Salsalani enables Dondon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Salsalani manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Salsalani really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dondon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Dondon is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Dondon stands up from Salsalani's guard - Dondon perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Salsalani defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Dondon. Salsalani slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Dondon throws a combination that misses and Salsalani counters with a flying knee. Nice. Dondon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Salsalani paws at him with a jab and circles away. Dondon gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Salsalani counters with a flying knee. Nice.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Dondon dives in and grabs Salsalani's left leg, looking for a takedown. Salsalani pushes down on Dondon's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mayang Dondon. That's going to take a lot out of him. Salsalani scores with a kick to the midsection. Dondon throws a head kick that misses and Salsalani counters with a left to the body. Salsalani is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dondon sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Salsalani throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dondon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Salsalani's guard. Dondon looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dondon seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Salsalani for as long as he can get away with. Dondon is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Salsalani being controlled here, momentarily. Abdul Salsalani has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Dondon postures up and lands a big shot to Salsalani's brow. Mayang Dondon is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Dondon's corner is telling him to maintain position.
And that's the end of the fight! Mayang Dondon showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dondon, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
