PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Junichi Emmeraldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trevor Condit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Emmeraldo comes to the cage accompanied by Mystic Forces. Condit has chosen RAWR as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Junichi Emmeraldo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Trevor Condit!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Condit will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Horrible takedown by Emmeraldo or perhaps it was just good defense by Condit which made him look bad.
Condit rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Emmeraldo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Emmeraldo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Condit is fending him off so far but Emmeraldo persists. Nope, Condit circles away and we're back to standing.
Emmeraldo tries to move into range but Condit moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
The fighters circle momentarily. Condit darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Condit fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Emmeraldo, pushing him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Condit taking a breather.
Condit wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Condit dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Condit is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Condit lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Emmeraldo has hold of one of Condit's legs. Condit is fighting the takedown attempt but Emmeraldo gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Condit kicks Emmeraldo off and gets to his feet.
Good standup being displayed there by Condit as he connects with a hook.
Condit feints a jab promting Emmeraldo to slip. Condit then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Emmeraldo slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Condit digs a good body shot into Emmeraldo's ribs.
Condit pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Emmeraldo back to the cage. Condit follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Emmeraldo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Emmeraldo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Condit swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Emmeraldo drops back looking for a leg! Condit is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Condit manages to kick Emmeraldo off! Emmeraldo jumps back into Condit's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Emmeraldo prevents Condit from getting back to his feet.
Condit really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Emmeraldo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Condit avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Emmeraldo missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Condit keeping full guard, as Emmeraldo tries to pass.
Emmeraldo drops back looking for a leg! Condit is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Condit manages to kick Emmeraldo off! Emmeraldo jumps back into Condit's guard.
Emmeraldo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Condit looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Condit looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Condit!
Emmeraldo manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Emmeraldo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Condit wants to take a breather but Emmeraldo is having none of it.
Emmeraldo looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Emmeraldo looking for submissions off his back.
Condit thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Emmeraldo's head.
Emmeraldo gets full guard.
Emmeraldo preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Emmeraldo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Condit wants to control from the top but Emmeraldo keeps moving.

Emmeraldo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Condit is aware though and is defending well.
Condit must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Emmeraldo is breathing heavily.
Condit trying to control but Emmeraldo is working from the bottom.
Emmeraldo throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Condit escapes and throws Emmeraldo's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Condit tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Emmeraldo sneaks back into half guard.
Emmeraldo works his way to full guard. Good work.
Emmeraldo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Junichi Emmeraldo dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Condit looks to land a combination. Emmeraldo sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Emmeraldo closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Condit quickly recovers to half guard.
Emmeraldo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Condit is trying to stand up here but Emmeraldo is controlling him well.
Emmeraldo uses his free foot to push down on Condit's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Condit.
Condit is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Condit is breathing heavily.

Emmeraldo jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Condit is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Condit and Emmeraldo has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Emmeraldo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Emmeraldo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Emmeraldo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Condit is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Emmeraldo has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Condit is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Emmeraldo yanks on the arm and Condit is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Emmeraldo.
