Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rory Flannagan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Captain Beefheart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beefheart has chosen Yellow Snow as his entrance music. Rory Flannagan could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Captain Beefheart's chin.

5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Captain Beefheart! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Beefheart thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Flannagan if he has to take too many more of those.

and Beefheart counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Flannagan! Beefheart is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Flannagan has managed to escape the submission attempt.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Beefheart throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Flannagan because Beefheart loaded up on that one. Flannagan holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Beefheart tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Flannagan wants to control but Beefheart is having none of it. Flannagan is squirming around, avoiding Beefheart's attempts to control the action. Flannagan is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Beefheart is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Flannagan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That was a close round but I would say that Rory Flannagan will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Captain Beefheart's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Beefheart must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Flannagan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Beefheart loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Beefheart has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Flannagan is proving hard to escape from. Beefheart postures up in Flannagan's guard and throws a big left but Flannagan blocks it.

Flannagan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Beefheart's guard. Flannagan wants to pass the guard but Beefheart is keeping the position. Beefheart striking off his back but it's not causing Flannagan any problems. Flannagan cracks Beefheart with a solid left hand. Flannagan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Flannagan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Beefheart not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Flannagan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Beefheart preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Beefheart avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Beefheart is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Flannagan is looking to work some ground and pound but Beefheart has wrist control. Flannagan passes Beefheart's left leg - he's now in half guard. Flannagan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Beefheart's head. Beefheart is breathing heavily. Flannagan throwing shots but Beefheart is blocking nicely. Flannagan maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Beefheart could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Flannagan has cracked it and Beefheart is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Flannagan!
