PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Grande Mucho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Fuller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that John Fuller was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Grande Mucho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, John Fuller!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Richard Clark and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fuller throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Mucho counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A head kick by Fuller misses
and Mucho cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Fuller throws a sloppy head kick
enabling Mucho to counter with a crisp jab.
Fuller throws a lazy head kick
and Mucho cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Fuller thows a leg kick but Mucho checks it
and Mucho counters with a nice uppercut.
Fuller throws a leg kick
and Mucho counters with a straight right hand.
A head kick by Fuller misses
and Fuller takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
John Fuller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fuller throws a lazy body kick
and Fuller takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fuller throws a sloppy head kick
and Mucho counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Fuller has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Mucho.

Mucho closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Mucho has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Mucho has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Fuller!

The ref stands the fighters back up because Grande Mucho just wasn't active enough.
Fuller thows a leg kick but Mucho checks it

and Mucho counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Mucho is nestled in close to Fuller, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Well, if Mucho is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Mucho's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Mucho moves nicely into side control.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Mucho really is a fat lump.
Mucho connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Fuller some visible discomfort.
Fuller can't do much from the bottom here.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mucho is working Fuller over with some ground and pound from side control.
Fuller gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mucho seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fuller for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grande Mucho dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Mucho drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fuller trying to keep a closed guard but Mucho is proving a slippery customer.
Mucho stays in close to Fuller's body and controls the position.
Mucho working some strikes from top position.
Mucho pushes down on Fuller's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Mucho passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Fuller!

Mucho tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Grande Mucho.

Mucho shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Fuller is trying to stand.
Mucho not doing much here.
Mucho is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Fuller can do to turn this around?

Mucho frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Mucho looking to control and managing it successfully.

Mucho takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Fuller is wriggling around trying to escape.
Fuller's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Mucho has control of Fuller's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Fuller regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mucho digs a good hook to Fuller's body.
Fuller throws a sloppy head kick
and Mucho counters with a straight right hand.
Mucho takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Mucho looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Mucho stalling.
Mucho has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Fuller takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mucho takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Grande Mucho.

Mucho shoots in and bounces Fuller off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Fuller can't keep his opponent in guard - Mucho advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Mucho lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Still in half guard, Mucho seems content to control.
Fuller wants to get back to full guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Grande Mucho wasn't doing enough on the ground.
A nice inside leg kick there by Mucho. That's going to slow Fuller down.
Mucho scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Mucho shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Mucho passes the guard and advances to mount!
Grande Mucho overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fuller tries to lock up and control but Mucho gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

A nice elbow there by Mucho.
Mucho controlling the position easily from mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
Grande Mucho showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Mucho has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
