Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barry Badgernath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). George Romero looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Romero! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barry Badgernath! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Romero misses with a takedown and Badgernath connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Badgernath, right into the meat.
Romero shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Badgernath counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Romero is breathing heavily. Romero shoots and misses and Badgernath decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Romero's guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Romero. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Badgernath's corner. There ya go! There ya go! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Badgernath is stalling in the full guard. Badgernath is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Badgernath looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Badgernath throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Badgernath stays in close to Romero's body and controls the position. Romero will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Badgernath throws and elbow that misses. Romero uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Badgernath's guard. Nice move by Romero! Badgernath managing to control the position. Badgernath tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Romero is fighting to break Badgernath's control of his arms but Badgernath is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Romero stopping the sweep attempt from Badgernath. Badgernath bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Romero's guard. Badgernath has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Badgernath controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Barry Badgernath. A bone on bone clash there as Romero blocks the leg kick.
Badgernath looks to land a left hand but Romero moved out of range nicely. Romero with a lazy takedown attempt so Badgernath counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Badgernath is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Badgernath trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Romero wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Badgernath manages to pass to side control. Nice strikes from Badgernath there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Romero has hold of Badgernath's hands but Badgernath slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Badgernath with the ground and pound but Romero uses the opportunity to regain guard. Romero preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Badgernath missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Badgernath connects with a couple of short punches. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Badgernath prevents Romero from getting back to his feet. Romero on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Romero tries to get out of the position. Badgernath works over Romero with some ground and pound from guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Badgernath thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Romero to regain full guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Badgernath accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Badgernath landing with the ground and pound. Badgernath in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Badgernath postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Badgernath throws and elbow that misses. Romero uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Badgernath's guard. Nice move by Romero! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Romero tries to free his leg and advance position but Badgernath is retaining full guard. Badgernath seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Badgernath wants to sweep here but Romero controlling him for the moment. Badgernath is adopting a defensive guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of George Romero. Badgernath fails to land with a series of punches.
Badgernath misses with a right hand and Romero counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Badgernath controlling the position. Badgernath manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Romero manages to get himself to full guard.
Badgernath seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

He's simply no match for Badgernath on the ground. Badgernath is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Barry Badgernath hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Badgernath throws a leg kick but Romero sees it coming and moves out of range. Badgernath swings for the body but Romero moves out of range.
Romero has his takedown stuffed letting Badgernath counter with a right hand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Barry Badgernath showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Romero gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Badgernath closes this distance looking for a takedown but Romero circles away. Romero changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Badgernath looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Romero working away. Badgernath tries to buck Romero off but Romero is having none of it. Badgernath regains half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Romero is thwarting Badgernath's attempts to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Badgernath slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Badgernath is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Badgernath lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Badgernath trying to control from half guard but Romero is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Badgernath looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Romero with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Badgernath is working for a submission of some sort.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Barry Badgernath wasn't active enough on the ground. Badgernath tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Romero was well out of range. Poor timing from Badgernath. A swing and a miss from Badgernath. Romero blocks a low kick nicely. Badgernath shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Badgernath is trying to control the action in half guard but Romero is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Barry Badgernath comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Badgernath has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
