PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Thaddeus Manos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bobby Moore was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Thaddeus Manos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Bobby Moore!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manos fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Manos avoids a punch combination nicely.
Moore swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Moore misses with an uppercut. Manos saw that one coming.
Moore defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Manos.
Moore circles away from the clinch attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moore misses with a double jab

and Manos counters with a single leg into guard. Moore didn't expect that.
Moore wants to get back to his feet but Manos is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Moore controls Manos momentarily but Manos frees himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Manos stopping the sweep attempt from Moore.
Manos passes Moore's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Moore is looking to escape.
Manos is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Moore reverses the position - he's now on top in Manos's guard.
Manos is pulling down on Moore's head to control his posture.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Thaddeus Manos.
Manos displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Moore throws out the jab.

Manos closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Moore quickly recovers to half guard.
Manos wants to pass to mount but Moore is defending the position.

Moore is trying to stand back up but Manos is controlling him

Manos is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Moore has managed to free his arm - good work.

Manos is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Moore still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Moore has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Manos wants to control but Moore postures up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Moore tries to stand but Manos is controlling his head.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Manos tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Moore presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Moore tries to stand up but Manos had a hold of his arm and he's managed to perform a nice reversal, into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Manos is looking to clinch but Moore is avoiding it.
Moore throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Moore throws a big shot that misses.
Bobby Moore seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Manos shoots in and drives through. Moore sprawls well.
Moore misses with a combination
and Manos counters with a one-two to the body.
Moore lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Manos circles away quickly and effectively.
Manos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Moore as he jumps to the side.
Manos looks to land a combination but Moore avoids it well.

Manos doesn't manage to clinch there - Moore circles away.
Moore pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Moore looks to score with a jab to the body but Manos is just out of range.
Moore keeps the fight on the outside.
Manos takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Moore misses with an uppercut.

and Manos moves into the clinch.

Manos's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Manos tries to close the distance and clinch but Moore swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Moore misses with a double jab

and Manos counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Moore's guard now.

Moore keeping moving, preventing Manos from controlling successfully.
Manos prevents Moore from getting back to his feet.
Manos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Manos trying to control but Moore is working from the bottom.
Manos pushing down on Moore's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Manos tries to pass to full mount but Moore defends it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Manos is looking for a kimura but Moore is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Manos to get the leverage.
Moore is trying to stand back up but Manos is controlling him
Manos wants to control but Moore is keeping him busy.
Manos is really struggling to control Moore but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Moore pushes Manos off and gets back to his feet.
Manos wants to clinch up but Moore keeps it at a distance.
Thaddeus Manos is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Manos doesn't manage to clinch there - Moore circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thaddeus Manos dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

and Manos decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Moore's guard.

Moore wants to stand and escape but Manos is having none of it.

Manos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moore swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Manos is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Thaddeus Manos just wasn't active enough.
Manos fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Moore looks to land a combination but Manos avoids it well.
Nice takedown defense from Moore. No joy for Manos on that attempt.
Moore lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Moore pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Moore swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Manos counters with a single leg into guard. Moore didn't expect that.
Moore can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Manos controls the pace.
Moore is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Manos passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Thaddeus Manos is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Moore is not content to let Manos control the position.
Manos slows the pace down.

Manos goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Moore rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Manos's guard! Nice work there by Moore!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Moore would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Manos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Moore tries to avoid it but Manos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Moore to the ground. Moore escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bobby Moore has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thaddeus Manos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Moore thuds a left hand into Manos's body.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Thaddeus Manos.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Manos, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
