Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bj Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mad Max (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Max has chosen this is ur destiny as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bj Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mad Max!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Max moves away from the strike by Penn.
Max slips a jab and a cross from Penn.

Max shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Penn manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Penn trying to keep a closed guard but Max is proving a slippery customer.
Penn wants to sweep but no luck.
Max wants to pass the guard but Penn is keeping the position.
Penn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Max stands and throws Penn's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Max slows the pace down.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Penn is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Max remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Penn is trying to work for a sweep but Max has mounted him!
Penn is trying to escape the mount but Max keeps good control and instead manages to take Penn's back.

Penn is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Max gets his way!
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Let's hope that Max has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Max slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Penn is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Max is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Penn rolls, trying to escape but Max keeps control of the position.

Max has the hooks in. Penn is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Max looking for the RNC.

Max working for a choke but Penn is defending well.
Max has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Penn's body.
Penn tries to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mad Max dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Penn throws a jab but it's blocked by Max.

Max shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Penn is trying to defend but Max finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Still in half guard, Max seems content to control.
Penn tries to roll over but Max keeps him under control.
Penn wants to control but Max is keeping busy.
Max keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Max moves into full mount! Penn won't be happy about that!

Max quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Max but it's paid off an Penn is forced to tap! Nice work by Max.
