Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jim Cabana! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Andy Nilson! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nilson on the wrong end of a nice jab. Cabana lands a lovely overhand right. Cabana will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cabana scores with a sloppy right hand. Nilson should have avoided that one. Cabana instigates a clinch. Cabana is trying to force a seperation but Nilson has the dominant position. Nilson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Cabana prevents it.
Cabana's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Nilson shoots in but no luck this time. Cabana lands the left hand. Cabana lands with an overhand left. No luck for Nilson with that takedown attempt. Jim Cabana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy Nilson. Nilson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cabana sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nilson somewhat. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Cabana cracks Nilson with an open hand slap. Horrible takedown by Nilson or perhaps it was just good defense by Cabana which made him look bad. Nilson shoots for a takedown but Cabana saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Nilson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cabana as he avoids it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nilson leaves Cabana with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Nilson takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Cabana looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Cabana forces Nilson back against the cage and clinches. Cabana is trying to push Nilson away but Nilson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Cabana lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Nilson backwards. Cabana pulls Nilson into guard.
Nilson passes Cabana's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Nilson trying to control from half guard but Cabana is working away. Nilson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Nilson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Nilson looking to isolate an arm here. Cabana doesn't see it coming and as Nilson extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Nilson!
