Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Wastler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dmitry Scherbina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wastler throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Scherbina counters with a straight right hand.
It looks like Samuel Wastler has been cut.
Wastler misses with the body kick
and Scherbina counters with a stiff right hand.
Wastler misses with a right hand
and Scherbina counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wastler scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Wastler remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scherbina is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Wastler's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Samuel Wastler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Scherbina shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Wastler counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Scherbina's guard now.
Wastler has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Scherbina looks gassed!
Wastler is working Scherbina over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Scherbina throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Wastler escapes and throws Scherbina's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Wastler decides to stand up, so the ref orders Scherbina to his feet.
Wastler looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Scherbina!

Wastler throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Scherbina has his hands clasped together but Wastler breaks the hold and Scherbina is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Wastler!
