PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Raymond Rabago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglas Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rabago's entrance music is Thursday Magnets Caught In A Metal Heart. A fine choice. Douglas Brown is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raymond Rabago!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Douglas Brown!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rabago misses with a series of wild punches.
Brown slips a straight right by Rabago.
Rabago cracks Brown with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Brown closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rabago circles away.
Brown uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rabago.
Rabago jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Rabago misses with a series of wild punches.
Brown bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.


It looks like Raymond Rabago has been cut.
Brown looks to throw the jab but Rabago is out of range.
Brown throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rabago sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Rabago leaves Brown with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Brown closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rabago to the mat! Rabago manages to get full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Brown slips nicely into half guard.
Brown moves into full mount! Rabago won't be happy about that!
Brown takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

You get the feeling that Rabago really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Rabago on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rabago tries to get out of the position.

Brown looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Brown sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Rabago knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brown on the ground.
Brown throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Rabago because Brown loaded up on that one.
Rabago is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rabago trying desperately to get to his feet.
Rabago avoids a series of strikes thrown by Brown.
Brown can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rabago is looking to escape.

Brown wants to control the pace but Rabago is squirming around nicely.

Rabago bucks up and throws Brown to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Rabago stuffs the takedown.
Raymond Rabago has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Douglas Brown.
Brown throws a right and a left that Rabago avoids nicely.
Brown looks gassed!
Rabago looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Rabago moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Brown pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Rabago back to the cage. Brown follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Rabago pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rabago misses with a jab, cross combination.

Brown shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Rabago squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Rabago defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Brown.
Brown thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Brown trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Brown landing strikes from the mount and Rabago is in trouble!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Brown wants to control the pace but Rabago is squirming around nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Brown is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Rabago throws a nice looking combination but Brown bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rabago takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Rabago misses with a body shot.

Brown drives through with a takedown into guard.
Brown passes Rabago's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Brown wants to free his trapped foot but Rabago is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Brown is trying to control. Rabago wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Rabago tries to kick Brown off but Brown keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Brown seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rabago does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Brown is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Brown trying to control the position but Rabago is working away.
Brown might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rabago kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rabago bucks up and tries to throw Brown off but instead Brown has got his back!
A lull in the action here.

Rabago is having to fend off submission attempts from Brown, who is looking to sink in the choke. Brown doesn't have the hooks in though and Rabago manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Brown tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Brown throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Rabago stopping the sweep attempt from Brown.
Rabago wants to stand but Brown is controlling his posture from full guard.
Rabago trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Brown looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Brown manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Brown controlling the pace for now.
Brown looking to control but Rabago is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Douglas Brown showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Rabago displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Brown.
Rabago throws a left and a right that both miss
and Brown counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A big left from Brown misses.
Rabago misses with a double jab.
Rabago lands with a cross.

Brown drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brown tries to advance to mount but Rabago denies him.
Brown is trying to move to mount but Rabago reverses beautifully and ends up in Brown's guard.

Brown is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Brown has control of Rabago's left arm, preventing Rabago from doing any damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rabago stands and steps away. Brown gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Raymond Rabago is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Brown closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rabago to the mat! Rabago manages to get full guard.
Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rabago swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Brown is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Rabago is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brown is controlling him.
Brown is pushing down on Rabago's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rabago is fighting to maintain full guard but Brown has managed to sneak the leg through.
Brown is looking to take a break and control but Rabago is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Rabago tries to kick Brown off but Brown keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Brown is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Brown passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Rabago!
Rabago wants to try and get back to his feet.
Brown tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Brown has control of Rabago's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rabago regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Brown can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rabago is looking to escape.

Rabago is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Brown asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Brown tries to move to mount but Rabago blocks the move with his legs.
Rabago wants to get back to his feet.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Brown throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Rabago has his hands clasped together but Brown breaks the hold and Rabago is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Brown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 4, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Douglas Brown!
