The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutten misses with a double jab.
Winters scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rutten doesn't seem bothered though.
Rutten lands a nice shot that snaps Winters's head back.
Rutten misses with a few strikes there.
Rutten ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Winters moves away.
Winters pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Rutten moves into range and clinches up with Winters.
Rutten lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Winters throws a punch but it's blocked by Rutten.

Winters has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rutten uses from the top position.
Rutten looking to sit in guard and control but Winters gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Winters won't allow Rutten to get back to his feet.
Winters looking to pass the guard.
Winters trying to control the position from guard on top but Rutten is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Winters pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rutten is keeping the position for now.

Winters throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rutten works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Wintersis looking to pass into half guard but Rutten pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Rutten is in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Winters is on top in guard.
Rutten not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Winters wants to control from the top but Rutten keeps moving.
Rutten is looking to stand up but Winters isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Winters controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Winters passes Rutten's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Rutten wants to control but Winters is keeping busy.
Winters tries to pass to full mount but Rutten defends it.
Winters is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Winters wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rutten keeps working.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Winters uses his free foot to push down on Rutten's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rutten.
Winters is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Rutten is in real trouble.

Winters has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Rutten has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

and Winters counters with a stiff right hand.
Steffa Rutten is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Winters throws a jab when Rutten was well out of range.
Winters misses with a double jab.
Rutten misses with a lunging right hand
and Winters counters with a stiff right hand.
Rutten misses with a shot to the body
and Winters counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Winters is looking to slow Rutten down with leg kicks.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Winters will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Steffa Rutten seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Winters throws a hook but Rutten avoids it easily.
Winters looks to land a right hand but Rutten moved out of range.

and Winters counters with a three punch combo that has Rutten backing up. Rutten nods at Winters to acknowledge the strikes.

Winters jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Winters keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Rutten shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Rutten connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Rutten scores with the left hand. Winters knows he should have avoided that one.
Winters misses with a two punch combination.
Winters might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
A decent looking cross lands there for Rutten.
Rutten stalks Winters and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Winters's face. Winters staggers backwards, shaken.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Rutten cracks Winters with a hook to the temple - Winters is on wobbly legs here! Rutten swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Winters falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Rutten wins by TKO!
