Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacob Creek! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Sotiropoulos! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Creek throws a nice looking combination but Sotiropoulos bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Creek ducks under a wild hook from Sotiropoulos. Creek throws a sloppy head kick and Sotiropoulos moves out of range easily. Creek misses with a two punch combination.
Creek throws a right and a left that both miss. Jacob Creek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sotiropoulos blocks a head kick by Creek.
Creek misses with a double jab
so Sotiropoulos counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sotiropoulos drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Creek manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sotiropoulos has Creek in his guard. Sotiropoulos looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Creek postures up.
Sotiropoulos wants to sweep here but Creek controlling him for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sotiropoulos is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Creek wants to get back to full guard. Sotiropoulos is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Creek! Sotiropoulos controlling the pace for now. Sotiropoulos can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Creek is looking to escape. Creek is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sotiropoulos is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Creek to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Creek shrugs it off. Sotiropoulos with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Sotiropoulos trying to control but he's not successful this time. Sotiropoulos looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Sotiropoulos takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Creek tries to hold on but Sotiropoulos pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sotiropoulos tries to control but Creek wriggling away. Creek has given up his back. Will we see Sotiropoulos going for some submissions?
Sotiropoulos looking for the RNC. Sotiropoulos is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Creek is tapping out! This one is all over!
