Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Leo Valdo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Correa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Valdo comes to the cage accompanied by Eminem - Go To Sleep. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leo Valdo! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eric Correa! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Reed Andrews and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Correa misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Valdo.

enabling Valdo to counter with a crisp jab. Correa closes the distance and clinches up with Valdo, looking for a takedown. Correa pushes Valdo against the cage but Valdo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Valdo leaves Correa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Correa misses the body punch and Valdo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Correa misses with an uppercut
letting Valdo counter with a right hand. Correa scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Valdo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Valdo tries to get out of the position. Correa tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. That's one minute gone in the round. Correa thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Valdo tries to bench press Correa off him but Correa keeps the position. Valdo is working hard here to advance position. Valdo manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Valdo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Correa on the ground. Correa is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Valdo defends it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Correa is working for a kimura here but Valdo manages to reverse the position and he's now in Correa's guard.
Valdo is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Correa has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Valdo is looking to defend but Correa has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Valdo! Correa pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Valdo taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Eric Correa! Eric Correa is the new featherweight champion!
