PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gerald Turek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Cairns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Gerald Turek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Cairns!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turek misses with a double jab.

Cairns clinches up with Turek and pushes him back against the cage.
Turek stalls.

Cairns decides to pull guard.
Turek won't allow Cairns to get back to his feet.
Turek is stalling in the full guard.
Cairns should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Turek has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cairns is proving hard to escape from.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Turek pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cairns is keeping the position for now.
Turek wants to control from the top but Cairns keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Gerald Turek just wasn't active enough.
Some wild striking there from Cairns.
Turek stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Turek wants it to stay on the feet.
Turek has his takedown stuffed
and Cairns counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Cairns misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Turek doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Cairns counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Cairns throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Turek is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Turek wants to stand but Cairns is controlling the position.
Cairns wants to get up but he can't break Turek's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Turek pushes Cairns off and gets back to his feet.
Horrible takedown by Cairns or perhaps it was just good defense by Turek which made him look bad.
Turek tries to clinch up
and Cairns counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Turek fails in his attempt to clinch.
Cairns misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Turek is looking to clinch.
Turek moves in looking to clinch but Cairns pushes him off.
Cairns looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Gerald Turek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Cairns.
The fight stays on the outside here - Turek looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Gerald Turek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Turek falls off balance throwing a combination

and Cairns counters with a nice double leg into side control. Turek won't be happy with that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cairns looks gassed!

Cairns stands up.
Turek misses with a head kick.
Cairns tries to clinch up.
Cairns keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Turek gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Cairns counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Cairns stands up from half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Turek feints a jab promting Cairns to slip. Turek then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Cairns slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


It looks like Michael Cairns has been cut.
Donk. Turek catches Cairns right on the button with a cross.
Cairns connects with a solid leg kick.
Cairns swings away with a body shot that misses

and Turek counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Turek in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Turek stays in close to Cairns's body and controls the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Turek gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Michael Cairns will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Michael Cairns's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Turek is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cairns sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Cairns misses with a wild combination.
Turek tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cairns paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Turek fails with the takedown
and Cairns counters with a series of strikes. Turek will be more careful next time no doubt.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Turek.
You can see the frustration on Cairns's face as Turek controls the position.
Turek has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Cairns wants to get back to his feet but Turek drags him back down.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Turek throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Cairns is breathing heavily.
Turek takes a little break here. Cairns wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Turek tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Turek has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Turek is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Cairns's shoulder. That is not cool.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cairns gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Turek thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Turek quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Turek but it's paid off an Cairns is forced to tap! Nice work by Turek.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gerald Turek!
