The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rogers looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Rogers will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Some wild striking there from Rogers.
Rogers digs a good hook to Fitch's body.
A jab-cross combination lands for Rogers and sends Fitch crashing to the mat! Rogers follows him down to the mat - Fitch regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
Fitch is rocked!
It looks like Jon Fitch has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Fitch looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Fitch looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Fitch looking for submissions off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fitch wants to improve his position but Rogers is controlling well.
Fitch gets full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Fitch has his foot on Rogers's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rogers works his way back into a safe position though. Fitch is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rogers is aware though and is defending well. Rogers has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Fitch to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Rogers is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Fitch pulls down on the head and he's put Rogers to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jon Fitch!
