Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Karl Donitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazuushi Sakuraba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sakuraba has chosen Wax Tailor feat. The Others "Walk The Line" as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Karl Donitz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazuushi Sakuraba! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sakuraba rushes Donitz and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Donitz is trying to force a seperation but Sakuraba has the dominant position. Sakuraba breaks from the clinch.
A nice inside leg kick there by Sakuraba. That's going to slow Donitz down. A slapping leg kick lands for Sakuraba.
Sakuraba clinches. Sakuraba's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Sakuraba buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Donitz gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Sakuraba throws a head kick that Donitz semi-blocks.
Sakuraba throws a leg kick but Donitz moved away. Sakuraba connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sakuraba misses with a head kick.
Donitz fails with the takedown and Sakuraba counters with a big head kick but Donitz shrugs it off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sakuraba lands a high kick!
Sakuraba turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Sakuraba closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Sakuraba misses with the ground and pound. Donitz prevents Sakuraba from moving into mount. Donitz is breathing heavily. Sakuraba scoring with punches from side control. Sakuraba throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Donitz works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sakuraba looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Sakuraba is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sakuraba is stalling here. Donitz is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Sakuraba seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Donitz has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. A bit of a lull in the action here. Sakuraba manages to get back to half guard. Sakuraba is trying to control but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Donitz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sakuraba wants to stand but Donitz is controlling the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sakuraba is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Sakuraba keeping moving, preventing Donitz from controlling successfully. Donitz is looking to work some ground and pound but Sakuraba has wrist control. Sakuraba is looking to stand up but Donitz isn't so interested in that idea. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Donitz trying to control the position from guard on top but Sakuraba is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sakuraba looking for a sweep. Not yet Sakuraba, not yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Sakuraba working for a triangle but Donitz defends it easily.
Donitz preventing the sweep. Donitz lands a couple of decent looking shots. Sakuraba avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Sakuraba wants to stand and escape but Donitz is having none of it. Sakuraba is trying to keep Donitz in close.
Sakuraba bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Donitz's guard. Donitz utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Sakuraba trying to control the position from guard on top but Donitz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sakuraba must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Sakuraba throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Sakuraba not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Sakuraba throws a big right hand that misses. Sakuraba is pushing down on Donitz's leg trying to pass to half guard. Donitz is fighting to maintain full guard but Sakuraba has managed to sneak the leg through. Sakuraba keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Sakuraba scoring with strikes to the body and head. Sakuraba is controlling the pace.
That's six minutes gone in the round. It looks like Sakuraba might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Sakuraba thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Donitz's head.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Donitz is not content to let Sakuraba control the position. Sakuraba passes to full mount! Sakuraba looking to control and managing it successfully. Let's hope that Sakuraba has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Sakuraba lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Sakuraba lands a big shot there that rocks Donitz but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Sakuraba tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Sakuraba with a couple of short strikes. Sakuraba looking to control and managing it successfully. Sakuraba raining down hammerfists from mount.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Sakuraba tries to control but Donitz wriggling away. Sakuraba looking to finish Donitz with some ground and pound. This is bad for Donitz! Sakuraba wants to control the pace but Donitz is squirming around nicely. Sakuraba lands a nice shot to the head. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sakuraba takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Sakuraba scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Donitz?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kazuushi Sakuraba dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Donitz has his takedown stuffed and Sakuraba counters with a good low kick that Donitz was not able to check. Sakuraba gets the takedown into side control. Sakuraba throwing shots but missing, from side control. Sakuraba is looking to take a break and control but Donitz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Sakuraba slows the pace down. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Sakuraba trying to control the action but Donitz is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sakuraba lands a decent elbow from side control. Donitz is letting Sakuraba control him for a moment. Donitz avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Sakuraba. Donitz is not content to let Sakuraba control the position. Sakuraba is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Donitz's shoulder. That is not cool.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Sakuraba has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Sakuraba lands a head kick!
Sakuraba wants to clinch. Sakuraba connects with a body shot. Sakuraba lands a nice looking kick to the body. Donitz takes a step back to recover. Sakuraba feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Sakuraba is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Sakuraba is in close to Donitz's body, working some short punches and elbows. Sakuraba wants to control from the top but Donitz keeps moving. Sakuraba slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Sakuraba stands and steps away. Donitz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Sakuraba moves in looking to clinch but Donitz pushes him off. Sakuraba shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sakuraba was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Sakuraba lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Donitz takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Sakuraba breaks from Donitz's wrist control and lands an elbow. Sakuraba looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Sakuraba controlling the position easily from mount.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Donitz wants to hold on but Sakuraba pushes him away. Sakuraba is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Donitz to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Donitz shrugs it off. Sakuraba working away from the top, dropping strikes. Sakuraba controlling from mount.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Donitz is squirming around, avoiding Sakuraba's attempts to control the action. Kazuushi Sakuraba has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Sakuraba lands a heavy elbow. Sakuraba lands a big elbow. Sakuraba looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
The referee warns Donitz that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Sakuraba postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Donitz looks a forlorn figure.

And that's the end of the fight! Kazuushi Sakuraba comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Sakuraba has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
