Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David Bowie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Westfall! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bowie looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Bowie tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Westfall cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Bowie tries to clinch enabling Westfall to counter with a crisp jab. Bowie tries to clinch but fails miserably and Westfall counters with a nice uppercut. Westfall avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
David Bowie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bowie throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Bowie wants to clinch and Westfall counters with a stiff right hand. Bowie closes the distance looking to clinch and Westfall counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Bowie throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Westfall on the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bowie wants to clinch but Westfall slips to the side and Bowie takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Bowie looks to throw the jab but Westfall is out of range. Westfall darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Westfall is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Bowie keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Westfall thows a huge punch but Bowie dodges it nicely.
Westfall is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Westfall is in the full mount, landing strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Westfall postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Bowie looks a forlorn figure.
This has been an exciting period of action! Westfall loads up with a big shot that hurts Bowie! He's pulled Westfall in close but Westfall has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Bowie survive? More strikes from Westfall and Bowie is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!
