Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lemar Green! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Herkings! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Green has managed to clinch.
Green keeps control of Herkings as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Green works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Herkings can't keep his opponent in guard - Green advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Herkings can do anything to dispel that myth. Green wants to control but Herkings is keeping him busy. Green lands strikes from half guard. Green wants to work for an arm triangle but Herkings is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Herkings wants to control but Green is keeping busy and won't allow it. Green controlling the action here. Green is looking for a kimura but Herkings is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Green to get the leverage. Green is looking for a kimura here.
Green working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
That's one minute gone in the round. Herkings wants to get back to his feet.
Herkings keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Herkings wants to control but Green is keeping busy.
Green not landing any meaningful shots this time. Herkings is refusing to be controlled, as Green sits in half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Green connects with a nice short shot to Herkings's temple. Green missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Green prevents Herkings from standing back up.
Green is trying to control. Herkings wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Herkings is defending against the submission attempts here by Green.
Herkings really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Green. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Green is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Green trying to control the action but Herkings is working from the bottom. Green prevents Herkings from improving his position. Green in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Herkings tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Green!
