The bell rings for round one and we are underway! van Dorst fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kurosaki avoids it really well and circles away. Kurosaki throws a left and a right that both miss
and van Dorst counters by moving into the clinch. Kurosaki can't break the clinch.
Kurosaki wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but van Dorst has him pressed against the cage. Kurosaki is looking to break free of the clinch but van Dorst has double underhooks. Kurosaki is trying to break free. Kurosaki scores with a shoulder strike. van Dorst fails to pull guard.

Kurosaki fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but van Dorst is out of range. van Dorst wants to clinch and Kurosaki counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Kurosaki gets through van Dorst's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Kurosaki is pressed up against the cage. van Dorst has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kurosaki down to the mat. Kurosaki avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Kurosaki clinches. van Dorst stalling.

van Dorst avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Kurosaki will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kurosaki has van Dorst up against the cage in a clinch.

Nice straight punches there by Kurosaki. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kurosaki. An inside leg kick from Kurosaki misses. Kurosaki throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Chucky van Dorst is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. van Dorst misses with a takedown attempt - Kurosaki sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Kurosaki tries to clinch there but van Dorst circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kurosaki smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. van Dorst dives in and grabs Kurosaki's left leg, looking for a takedown. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for van Dorst. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Kurosaki won't be happy with that. van Dorst works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kurosaki can do anything to dispel that myth. van Dorst is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kurosaki knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. van Dorst wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kurosaki keeps working. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Kurosaki tries to improve position but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. van Dorst wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kurosaki, who protects the arm well. Kurosaki controls the position for a moment. van Dorst tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. van Dorst is looking to take a break and control but Kurosaki is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Kurosaki is trying to escape and get back to his feet. You can see the frustration on Kurosaki's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Kurosaki sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Kurosaki wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kurosaki is staying active underneath van Dorst, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Kurosaki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with van Dorst. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Kurosaki controlling the position for now.
We're going to have a standup here because Chucky van Dorst wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Kurosaki works van Dorst's body with a nice hook. van Dorst shoots for a double leg takedown but Kurosaki sprawls well. He's pushed van Dorst's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Kenpachi Kurosaki is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Kurosaki fails to land with a series of punches.
