Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ramon Brandao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Josh James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ramon Brandao!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James fails with a takedown attempt.
James gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Brandao looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Brandao scores with a nice right hand.


It looks like Josh James has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Brandao lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Brandao fakes high and swings low for a body shot but James manages to avoid it.

Brandao cracks James with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Brandao has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning James to stand back up!
James steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Brandao.
Brandao throws a head kick but James moves out of range.
Brandao shoots and misses

so James counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
James wants to pass the guard but Brandao is keeping the position.
Brandao not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James won't allow Brandao to sweep him here.
James has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Brandao manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Brandao tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
James uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Brandao.
Brandao with a poor takedown

and James counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brandao working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. James doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. James manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

James seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Brandao has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. James doesn't defend quickly enough and Brandao has managed to lock this one up! Can James escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Brandao on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ramon Brandao!
