Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jose Martinez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dj Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jose Martinez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jose Martinez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dj Penn!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Tarja Halkonen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martinez with a lazy takedown attempt
enabling Penn to counter with a crisp jab.

Penn fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Martinez sprawls well initially but Penn persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Penn wants to stand up but Martinez is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Penn seems to be working for a kimura but Martinez defends the submission attempt.
Penn moves nicely into side control.
Martinez struggling a bit here.
Martinez tries to buck Penn off but Penn is having none of it.
Martinez is breathing heavily.

Martinez is stalling here. Penn is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Martinez seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Penn has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Penn wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Martinez, who protects the arm well.

Penn is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Martinez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Martinez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

A close round but Dj Penn will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Martinez takes a kick to the side of the head.

Penn scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Penn moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jose Martinez.
Well Penn has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
