Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Piotr Baginski! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Omega Blast! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Valeri Chadov and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Blast scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Baginski looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Baginski working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Blast really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Baginski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Blast being controlled here, momentarily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Baginski slips nicely into half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Baginski in particular looking to stall. Blast is looking to improve his position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Piotr Baginski. Baginski blocks a jab. Blast connects with a jab. Blast lands the left hand. Blast misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Baginski counters with a nice double leg into side control. Blast won't be happy with that. Baginski is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Blast is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Baginski wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Blast, who protects the arm well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Baginski stands up and we're back to a striking position. Blast throws a combination that misses and Baginski counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Baginski. Baginski gets to his feet. Blast looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Blast with a body punch. A glancing blow. Baginski tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Blast paws at him with a jab and circles away. Blast with a jab. Nice uppercut there from Blast. Blast fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Omega Blast seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Baginski fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Blast scores with a hook. Baginski walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Sloppy strikes from Blast. Those never looked like landing. Blast scores with a nice strike. Baginski looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Baginski is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Baginski tries to free his leg and advance position but Blast is retaining full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Baginski stands up from Blast's guard - Baginski perhaps looking for a knockout. Blast falls off balance throwing a combination
so Baginski counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Blast trying to keep a closed guard but Baginski is proving a slippery customer.
Baginski wants to control from the top but Blast keeps moving. Blast keeping full guard, as Baginski tries to pass. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Baginski thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Piotr Baginski dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Blast connects with a body shot that sends Baginski's belly button to the back. Blast changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Blast lands a slapping body shot.

Blast lands with a nice combination. Baginski backs away looking to recover. Blast stuffs the takedown attempt from Baginski. Baginski gets slowly back to his feet. Blast misses with a straight left. Baginski closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Piotr Baginski overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baginski tries for a kimura but Blast is defending well. Baginski moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Baginski tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Blast tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baginski decides to stand back up. Blast lands a lovely overhand right. Baginski closes the distance and pushes Blast back into the cage. Baginski prevents Blast from breaking the clinch. Blast is fighting off a takedown attempt but Baginski is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Blast to the mat. Blast regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Blast keeping full guard, as Baginski tries to pass. Baginski stopping the sweep attempt from Blast.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Baginski wants to pass the guard but Blast is keeping the position. Baginski throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Blast works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Baginski trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Baginski not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Baginski is pushing down on Blast's leg trying to pass to half guard. Blast is fighting to maintain full guard but Baginski has managed to sneak the leg through. Baginski is trying for a kimura here. Blast looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Baginski wins by kimura!
