Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mongo Ubamoneda!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Chimpo!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ubamoneda pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ubamoneda looks to land a combination but Chimpo avoids it well.
Mongo Ubamoneda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chimpo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Ubamoneda trying to control the position here.
Chimpo postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Chimpo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Chimpo lands a couple of elbows.
Chimpo being controlled here momentarily.

Ubamoneda had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Chimpo is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Ubamoneda Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Chimpo's back instead.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ubamoneda doesn't have the hooks in and Chimpo manages to turn into his guard.
Chimpo wants to pass the guard but Ubamoneda is keeping the position.

Chimpo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Ubamoneda looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Chimpo stopping the sweep attempt from Ubamoneda.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ubamoneda gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Chimpo counters by moving into the clinch.
Ubamoneda is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ubamoneda tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Chimpo just stands there and leans against the cage.

Chimpo has hold of one of Ubamoneda's legs. Ubamoneda is fighting the takedown attempt but Chimpo gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Ubamoneda avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Chimpo passes Ubamoneda's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Chimpo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ubamoneda is just riding it out for now. Chimpo eventually gives up the hold.

Chimpo in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Ubamoneda tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Chimpo!
