Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dwyane Wade! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chung Lee! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wade throws a jab when Lee was well out of range. Lee throws a left and a right that both miss
and Wade counters with a takedown into side control. Wade prevents Lee from escaping the position. Wade connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Lee some visible discomfort.
Wade creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lee sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lee avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Wade. Wade cracks Lee with a big elbow. Lee defending against the ground and pound. Lee tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Lee is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lee can do anything to dispel that myth. Wade cracks Lee with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
It looks like Chung Lee has been cut. Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wade. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. This has been an exciting period of action! Lee is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Lee is bucking up trying to escape but Wade cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Wade trying to control but he's not successful this time. Wade putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
That's one minute gone in the round. Wade is landing with some decent strikes but Lee is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The cut above Chung Lee's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Wade lands a big shot to the head and Lee winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Dwyane Wade!
