Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Illya Tyunina and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shmelev looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Shmelev thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Shmelev is trying to control. McCarty wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
McCarty is in trouble now - Shmelev has advanced to mount!
Shmelev trying to control but McCarty is having none of it.

Shmelev wants to stand but McCarty is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McCarty tries to hold on but Shmelev pushes him away.
Shmelev is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But McCarty has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from McCarty!

and Shmelev takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Shmelev shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. McCarty manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Shmelev is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

McCarty tries to land a sweep but no joy.

McCarty shoots in but no luck this time.

and Shmelev counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Shmelev.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Shmelev closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
McCarty gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Shmelev is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McCarty defends well.

McCarty won't allow Shmelev to get back to his feet.

McCarty is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Nikita Shmelev overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McCarty decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Shmelev, up you get!
McCarty is trying hard to land a takedown here. Shmelev sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Jon McCarty showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Shmelev tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Shmelev tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. McCarty smiles and moves away.
Shmelev shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches McCarty napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
We're going to have a standup here because Nikita Shmelev wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
McCarty swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Shmelev.

and McCarty counters with a shoot takedown. Shmelev fights it but they end up in guard.
McCarty is stalling in the full guard.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Shmelev dodges the punch combination from McCarty.
McCarty tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Shmelev swivels and escapes.
Shmelev clinches.
Shmelev is trying to force a seperation but McCarty has the dominant position.
McCarty is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Shmelev can't fight it off and eventually McCarty manages to take the fight to the floor. Shmelev looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Shmelev doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight!
Jon McCarty comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think McCarty has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
