Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scott Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacques Gillette! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Jones drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gillette is not content to let Jones control the position. Jones taking a breather here. What's Gillette going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones landing a few strikes. Jones trying to control the action but Gillette is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Jones landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Jones staying calm. Gillette is looking to reverse the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones trying to control the action but Gillette is working from the bottom. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Jones throws an elbow but Gillette slips to the side and avoids it well. Jones lands an elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Jones gets to mount! Gillette was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Jones working away from the top, dropping strikes. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Gillette is trying to escape the mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jones raining down hammerfists from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Scott Jones dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Jones throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Gillette throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Gillette closes the distance looking to clinch so Jones counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Gillette wants to stand and escape but Jones is having none of it. Gillette preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Gillette keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Jones thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones sitting in guard here, content to control. Gillette wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment.
Scott Jones has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Gillette stuffs the takedown. Gillette tries to clinch and Jones counters with a one-two to the body. Gillette forces Jones back against the cage and clinches. Jones has hold of one of Gillette's legs. Gillette is fighting the takedown attempt but Jones gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gillette lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jones! Jones avoids a series of strikes thrown by Gillette.
Jones tries to hold on but Gillette postures up. Gillette looking to control but Jones is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Gillette thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gillette looking to ground and pound but Jones is blocking nicely. Gillette misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Jones is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Gillette trying to control but he's not successful this time. Jones holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Gillette tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jones regains half guard. Jones tries to roll over but Gillette keeps him under control. Gillette wants to stand up but Jones has a hold of him and won't allow it. Jones trying to hold on to Gillette's head to control him but Gillette postures up.
Gillette missing with the ground and pound from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Scott Jones dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
A looping hook to the body misses from Jones. Gillette does a little dance to reset his feet. Gillette darts in and clinches Jones up against the cage. Jones is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Gillette can't fight it off and eventually Jones manages to take the fight to the floor. Gillette looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Gillette is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Gillette looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Jones scoring with some ground and pound. Jones trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Gillette is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Scott Jones wasn't doing enough on the ground. Gillette ducks under a wild hook from Jones.

Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Gillette. Jones tries for a takedown but Gillette sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Gillette on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Gillette closes the distance but Jones moves to the side and Jones counters with a straight right hand. Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gillette moves away. Gillette tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away. Jones misses with an uppercut. Gillette saw that one coming. Gillette connects with a crisp jab. Gillette tries to clinch up enabling Jones to counter with a crisp jab. Jones circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gillette checks a low kick from Jones. Jones tries to bum rush Gillette with a series of wild strikes but Gillette uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Jones connects with a single shot there. Jones looks for a takedown but Gillette sprawls well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gillette wants to clinch but Jones slips to the side and Jones counters with a takedown into side control. Jones is chipping away with strikes.
Jones thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Gillette trying to control but Jones flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Jacques Gillette has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gillette breaks Jones's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Jones is trying to control the position but Gillette postures up. Gillette trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gillette accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Gillette looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Gillette avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! Scott Jones showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
