Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gary Hawke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donald Rumsfeld (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Donald Rumsfeld is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gary Hawke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Donald Rumsfeld!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, David Schapiro and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawke gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Rumsfeld counter with a right hand.

Rumsfeld drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hawke is looking for a sweep.
Hawke seems a little lost for a moment, as Rumsfeld dominates the positioning.
Hawke tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hawke is working hard here to advance position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hawke manages to work his way to half guard, despite Rumsfeld's best efforts.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rumsfeld wants to pass to mount but Hawke is defending the position.
Rumsfeld lands strikes from half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rumsfeld in particular looking to stall.
Hawke moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Rumsfeld postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Rumsfeld looking to pass the guard.
Rumsfeld wants to control from the top but Hawke keeps moving.
Rumsfeld really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hawke. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rumsfeld looking to sit in guard and control but Hawke gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Rumsfeld looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hawke drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hawke jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hawke drops back looking for a leg! Rumsfeld is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rumsfeld manages to kick Hawke off! Hawke jumps back into Rumsfeld's guard.
Hawke advances to half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rumsfeld is trying to get back to full guard.
Rumsfeld is looking to control Hawke's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rumsfeld avoid being mounted?
Rumsfeld looks gassed!

Rumsfeld is defending against the submission attempts here by Hawke.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gary Hawke will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Rumsfeld closes the distance but Hawke moves to the side

and Hawke decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rumsfeld's guard.
Hawke prevents Rumsfeld from getting back to his feet.

Hawke is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Rumsfeld controls Hawke momentarily but Hawke frees himself.
Rumsfeld is breathing heavily.

Rumsfeld seems keen to control Hawke's posture.
Hawke stays in close to Rumsfeld's body and controls the position.
Hawke being controlled here momentarily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Donald Rumsfeld hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Hawke closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Rumsfeld tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Rumsfeld wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Hawke has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Rumsfeld's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Rumsfeld is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Hawke!
