Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Uriel Black! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Pablo Isch! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Isch closes the distance but Black moves to the side and Black counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Isch tries for a takedown but Black circles away easily and Black counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Isch misses with a takedown enabling Black to counter with a crisp jab. Isch tries for a takedown but Black circles away easily and Black counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Uriel Black has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Juan Pablo Isch. Black throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Isch. Black drives through with a takedown into guard. Black postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Isch is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Isch is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Isch utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Black trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Juan Pablo Isch wasn't active enough on the ground. Black connects with a right hand. Isch shakes it off. Isch tries to clinch but fails miserably and Black counters by moving into the clinch. Black escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Isch throws a lazy uppercut
and Black counters with a nice uppercut. Isch misses with a hook
and Black cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Black circles away from the clinch attempt and Black counters with a three punch combo that has Isch backing up. Isch nods at Black to acknowledge the strikes. Isch shoots and misses and Black counters with an outside leg kick.
Black scores with a shot to the body.
Black gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Black lands a takedown into guard.
Black drops back, looking for a kneebar! Isch looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Isch looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Isch! Black tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Black is working hard here to advance position. Black sneaks back into half guard. Black moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Black controlling the position. Isch has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Black is proving hard to escape from. Isch trying to control the position from guard on top but Black is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Black is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Isch trying to control but Black is working from the bottom. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Black wants to hit a switch here but Isch passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Black there! Black controls the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Uriel Black dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Isch shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Black counters with a takedown into side control. Black thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Black looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Isch is avoiding damage well.
Black in side control, throwing shots but Isch defends. Isch is trying to improve his position. Black tries for a kimura but Isch is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Isch taking punishment in the form of punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Isch tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Black wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Black wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Isch, who protects the arm well. Black is looking to take a break and control but Isch is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Black is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Isch knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Isch is not content to let Black control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Isch wants to control but Black postures up. Black working the body and head with strikes. Isch is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Black tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Black has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Black advances to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Black thowing shots but they're missing. Black misses with a head shot. Black thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Isch is in all sorts of trouble here.
Black sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Black fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Black with shots to the head and body - Isch looks very uncomfortable down there. Black looking to control but Isch is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Black scores with a couple of good head shots there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Black connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Black thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Isch sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Black lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Black is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Isch is trying to control but can't.
Black is looking to stall here but Isch recovers full guard. Isch trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Uriel Black dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
A shot to the body from Isch misses and Black counters with a single leg into guard. Isch didn't expect that. Black controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Black trying to control the position from guard on top but Isch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Black won't allow Isch to sweep him here. Isch trying to keep a closed guard but Black is proving a slippery customer.
Uriel Black has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Black with a body punch. A glancing blow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Isch shoots and misses and Black counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Black pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Isch gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Black counters with a nice double leg into guard. Isch takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Isch keeping moving, preventing Black from controlling successfully. Uriel Black overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Black works a leg free and moves into half guard. Black thows a huge punch but Isch dodges it nicely.
Isch is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Black scores with a couple of nice shots. Isch wants to get back to his feet.
Black is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Isch sees it coming and defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Black is figuring out what he wants to do next. Black is nestled in close to Isch, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Black is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Isch wants to get back to his feet.
Black winds up and cracks Isch with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Black with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Isch is trying to control but Black manages to pass to mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Black working away from the top, dropping strikes. Isch is trying to escape the mount.
Isch wants to control but Black is having none of it. Black looking to isolate an arm here. Isch doesn't see it coming and as Black extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Black!
