5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miguel Perote! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mir drives through with a takedown into guard. Mir stops Perote from standing up. Mir postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Mir wants to pass the guard but Perote is keeping the position. Mir stops Perote from standing up. Mir wants to pass the guard but Perote is keeping the position. Mir pushing down on Perote's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Mir missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Perote wants to get back to his feet. Mir seems to be looking for submissions.

Mir landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Mir is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Perote is trying to stand up here but Mir is controlling him well. Mir seems to be working for a kimura but Perote defends the submission attempt. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Perote can do anything to dispel that myth. Perote taking some punishment here, with Mir in his half guard.

Perote really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Perote is in trouble now - Mir has advanced to mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Perote wants to try and get back to his feet. Mir looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Perote defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Mir.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mir is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Perote is forced to tap! Great finish!
