Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Billie James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaec Caturan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than James was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

James is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

James has the hooks in. Caturan is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Caturan is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if James gets his way!

Caturan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

James wants to stand up but Caturan is controlling him.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
We're going to have a standup here because Billie James wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

and James counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Caturan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Billie James overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Caturan wants to hold on but James pushes him away.
James stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
James looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James is trying to work for a kimura but Caturan is defending well.

James frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
James prevents Caturan from getting the reversal.

James seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Caturan for as long as he can get away with.

James pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

James is working for a guillotine from mount but Caturan frees his head quite easily.
James is standing up, even though he is in mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Billie James dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
James shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Caturan napping and manages to drive through into side control!
You can see the frustration on Caturan's face as James controls the position.
James stands up and beckons Caturan to his feet.
James feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Caturan has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. James is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Caturan.
Caturan tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Caturan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

James lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
James controlling the position well here. Caturan rolled but James kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Caturan is trying to get back to his feet but James has full control of the position and if anything, Caturan has just worked his way into a worse spot.
James keeps control of the position easily here as Caturan tries to buck him off.

James jumps into guard, dragging Caturan to the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

James working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Caturan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Caturan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
James is pulling down on Caturan's head. It's preventing any offense from Caturan, at least for the moment.
James lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Caturan!

Well James has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
