Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sergey Masucow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masucow shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Taylor as he avoids it easily.
Taylor tries to clinch
and Masucow counters with a shoot takedown. Taylor fights it but they end up in guard.
Masucow landing some decent shots from guard.
Masucow wants to control from the top but Taylor keeps moving.
Masucow content to stall in guard here.
Taylor is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Masucow trying to control the position from guard on top but Taylor is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Masucow won't allow Taylor to get back to his feet.
We're going to have a standup here because Sergey Masucow wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Taylor wants to clinch
and Masucow counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Masucow is trying to control the action in half guard but Taylor is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Taylor is trying to stand up here but Masucow is controlling him well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Masucow in particular looking to stall.
Masucow seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Masucow connects with a nice short shot to Taylor's temple.
Taylor really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Masucow. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Masucow prevents Taylor from standing back up.
Masucow has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Taylor looks gassed!
Taylor is in trouble now - Masucow has advanced to mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Taylor flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Masucow in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Masucow scoring with strikes but Taylor is staying in there.
Masucow won't let Taylor get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Masucow cracks Taylor with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
